The Weaving Way
Mentorship in the Art and Craft of Living
Welcome
Every life is organized around something, whether we choose it or not. Oftentimes, we inherit our organizing principle from our environment without even questioning it.
Comfort. Entertainment. Security. Belonging. Achievement. Status. Pleasure. Religion. Service. God. Science. Truth.
Whether chosen consciously or inherited unconsciously, the organizing principle of a moment shapes what we perceive, value, are, and become.
The Weaving Way is a whole-life discipline of discovering, refining, and embodying the principles that organize our lives.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide relational mentorship that forms people in the art and craft of living, enabling them to develop the self-knowledge and skill required to live flourishing lives.
What do we do?
We offer a long-form transformational process undertaken in the style of a guild: the ongoing relationship of mentor and apprentice.
What does this relationship develop?
Inwardly, The Weaving Way develops introspection, self-knowledge, non-reactivity, and freedom from shame.
Outwardly, The Weaving Way develops the capacity to choose one’s response in each moment and to truly live by one’s calling.
What do these developments change?
Through inward and outward transformation, the Weaving Way enables weavers to rewrite the patterns by which the past conditions their future.
Why does this system exist?
The knowledge and practices needed to live well are scattered across dozens of disciplines and traditions. The Weaving Way brings them together into a single, coherent path integrated into daily life.
Where did it come from?
The Weaving Way emerged from a lifelong inquiry and rigorous exploration of the Dao De Jing (translated as Weaving the Way) and its implications. The full text and commentary are available on this website.
How does it work?
We recognize that life weaves itself in cycles. Each cycle moves through recognizable stages, and each stage calls for different ways of engaging with it. By learning to recognize where we are in the process, we can use the appropriate tools for the moment.
The various meditations, contemplations, exercises, and facilitated processes of The Weaving Way strengthen our fortitude, acceptance, curiosity, and truthfulness.
This, in turn, increases the integrity of our self-knowledge, coherence of body, heart, and mind, orders our priorities, and aligns the activities of our lives.
With these characteristics, we gain an enhanced ability to interrupt, destabilize, and reorganize our patterns so we can choose how we live.
